About

Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church began as an idea for a church in this valley and it would naturally be called "Pleasant Valley".

The members did most of the work on the church which was built on donated land. Work began in August 1866, cost was approximately $3000 and was dedicated in October 1867.

In 1897 the church was rebuilt, with a narthex and church school room added. The basement was dug in the 1930's. Stained glass windows were added in 1950, 1953, and 1967.

The "Lucas Parish" was formed by the joining of Pleasant Valley and St. Paul's in 1923.

Pleasant Valley and St. Paul's separated in 1972 to become individual parishes again and continue as such to the present day.

Looking back over the Church's history and as it stands now, its greatest appeal seems to be its beautiful natural setting away from the busy world one faces daily. One can hardly visit Pleasant Valley Church without gaining a feeling of inner peace, refreshment, and a new closeness to God and his creation.
